    Enjoy an afternoon of traditional Irish music with Doimnic Mac Giolla Bhríde, a celebrated sean-nós singer from Co. Donegal. This intimate, relaxed performance will also include piano, accordion and uilleann pipes. The event will be held at Collegian Court, 89 Park Street in Chicopee, at 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 1. Tickets are limited and must be reserved by February 26. Cost is $12 for ICC members, and $15 for non-members. Please note: Sales for the show have ended.     5:30 pmElms College to the UMass Fine Arts Center

    The Chieftains will be performing at the UMass Fine Arts Center on Sunday, March 8 at 7:00 pm. Please join the Irish Cultural Center on a bus trip from Elms College to see this six-time Grammy-winning Irish band in its 53rd anniversary year. The show promises to be as exciting and musically diverse as all Chieftains shows, and is being billed as the band's final USA tour.

    Tickets are $65 for ICC members, $70 for non-members, and $30 for those aged 17 and under. The price includes the bus and ticket for the show. The bus will leave at 5:30 pm from the Sheila Ryan Flynn Parking Lot at the Elms, on the corner of Springfield Street and Fairview Avenue, Chicopee. Parking is available.

    This documentary focuses on the Irish roots of modern day surfing. It looks at the life of Irish-Hawaiian George Freeth and his influence on lifeguarding and the sport of surfing. A must see, with spectacular wave footage, for young adventurers. It won the Audience Choice Award at the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival. (2008, 80 minutes, directed by Joel Conroy.)

    The Irish Cultural Center invites you to a special evening with Saw Doctors guitarist Leo Moran and sax player Anthony “Anto” Thistlethwaite. With The Saw Doctors taking a break from touring the world after twenty five years, Leo and Anto have put together an acoustic show that includes fresh takes on Saw Doctors’ fan favorites and lesser-known songs, and some brand new tunes. The evening promises to be full of great laughs and stories as well.

    Leo and Anto take the stage at 7:00 pm on Saturday, April 11 at the Munich Haus, 13 Center Street in Chicopee, MA, in the second floor event hall. Doors open at 6:30 pm.

    This show has SOLD OUT. Tickets will not be sold at the door.

    *Please note: Tickets are general admission, table seating. Tables are long, banquet-style. Food is not available during the concert; the bar will be open.     The Irish Cultural Center will present a lecture on the USS Jamestown’s voyage to Cork, Ireland in 1847, “It is Not an Everyday Matter to See a Nation Starving: Captain Robert Bennet Forbes and the 1847 Voyage of the USS Jamestown to Cork, Ireland.” The lecture will be given by Catherine B. Shannon, Ph.D., professor emerita, of Westfield State University on Sunday April 12, 2015 from 3:00 – 5:00 pm in the Elms College Alumnae Library Theater. Free and open to the public.

    Dr. Shannon will discuss the voyage of the USS Jamestown which left Boston on March 28, 1847, loaded with more than 800 tons of provisions and supplies for the starving people of Ireland in the darkest months of “Black 1847,” the year the Irish Famine peaked. Learn more about this event.

    The ICC invites you to a special album release show with Searson, from Ontario, Canada. Searson are known for their own original Ottawa Valley style music mixed with Celtic, East Coast, and Scottish, which includes high energy fiddling, passionate vocals and step dancing.

    Searson will perform on Saturday, July 11 at 8:00 pm at the Delaney House in Holyoke, MA. Doors open at 7:00. The Delaney House opens at 5:00 for those who wish to have dinner; reservations are recommended.

    The ICC invites you to an afternoon of Irish fiddle and folk music with the group House of Hamill. This new collaboration is comprised of Brian Buchanan (of Jubilee Riots, formerly Enter the Haggis), and Rose Baldino (of Burning Bridget Cleary). This intimate, relaxed performance will include trad Irish sets and songs, and original compositions.

    House of Hamill will perform on Sunday, July 19 at 3:00 pm at the Collegian Court Restaurant, 89 Park Street in Chicopee, MA.

    Celtic Adventures for Kids is a week-long program designed to give children an introduction to the richness of Irish culture. Children from grades 1-9 take part in several classes daily, including: Irish dancing, music (singing Irish tunes, playing the tin whistle and the bodhrán), Irish language, storytelling/literature, games, and arts and crafts. The Maguire Center swimming pool is also available for daily use.

    Camp runs July 27 –31, 2015 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Cost is $200 per child. There is a $20 discount for Irish Cultural Center members, and a $20 discount for each additional child from the same family. A $50 non-refundable deposit with registration is due by June 11, 2015. Hayes and Kane are authors of the recently released “The Last Blasket King, Pádraig Ó Catháin, An Rí,” which tells the story of the last King of the Great Blasket Island located off the coast of Dingle, County Kerry, Ireland.

    The ICC is sponsoring a bus trip to see Cherish the Ladies: Celtic Christmas at the UMassAmherst Fine Arts Center on Thursday, December 10. Cherish the Ladies create an evening that includes a spectacular blend of virtuoso instrumental talents, beautiful vocals, captivating arrangements, and stunning step dancing.

    Tickets are $48 for ICC members and $53 for non-members. Ticket cost includes bus transportation, driver tip, and reserved seat at the concert. The bus will depart from Elms College at 6:30 pm from the Sheila Ryan Flynn Parking Lot on the corner of Springfield Street and Fairview Avenue in Chicopee, MA (near the traffic lights). Performance begins at 7:30 pm.
