"A Little Dicey with Zoe Darrow” is an acoustic trio from Northampton, MA made up of three members from the Celtic Rock/Alt-Irish six piece electric band Dicey Riley. They will be playing acoustic versions of songs from Dicey Riley’s repertoire, plus traditional music, originals, and acoustic covers. Much of Little Dicey’s songs come from a genre they call "Alt-Irish” which is as Celtic-influenced Alt-country and Alternative Rock. The band is: Timmy O'Brien playing acoustic guitar, Zoe Darrow singing and playing fiddle, and John McLaughlin singing and playing the cajón, the bodhrán, and the djembe. The Celebrity Bartender event will support the West Springfield Middle School PBIS program. PBIS stands for Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports. Students who are caught behaving have the opportunity to earn "BARK Bucks." These "BARK Bucks" are then used to purchase prizes, enter raffles or are used to see a movie or play dodgeball. All the money raised will be used to purchase raffle prizes, incentives and experiences for our students that will promote positive behavior in the school. It’s 1958, and it’s the Super Senior Prom at Springfield High School. There’s only one problem: Billy Ray Patton, the lead singer of The Crooning Crabcakes, has been suspended — and they’re the scheduled performers for the night! As a last-minute replacement, the Wonderettes (Cindy Lou, Missy, Betty Jean, and Suzy), the third-place finishers in the State Song Leaders competition, not only get the gig but come back ten years later to perform at their reunion.

"A Little Dicey with Zoe Darrow” is an acoustic trio from Northampton, MA made up of three members from the Celtic Rock/Alt-Irish six piece electric band Dicey Riley. They will be playing acoustic versions of songs from Dicey Riley’s repertoire, plus traditional music, originals, and acoustic covers. Much of Little Dicey’s songs come from a genre they call "Alt-Irish” which is as Celtic-influenced Alt-country and Alternative Rock. The band is: Timmy O'Brien playing acoustic guitar, Zoe Darrow singing and playing fiddle, and John McLaughlin singing and playing the cajón, the bodhrán, and the djembe. On May 4, the ICC is sponsoring our eighteenth Irish language immersion day, Lá na Gaeilge, at Elms College. It is a unique opportunity for those with an interest in the language – beginners and those with varying levels of competence – to deepen their knowledge and appreciation of this vital component of Irish culture. As well as formal classes, Lá na Gaeilge consists of workshops (céilí dancing, film), and cómhrás (opportunities for conversation and dialog at the learner’s appropriate level). A lecture, The Irish Language and the discourses of colonisation and decolonisation, will be given by Kerron Ó Luain, Villanova FLTA. Lá na Gaeilge concludes in a seisiún with an opportunity for participants to display their musical talents. Registration begins at 8:30 am and the day concludes at about 5:00 pm. The cost is $50 per person, $45 for ICC Patrons, and $15 for college-age and under students. More info and registration form.

"A Little Dicey with Zoe Darrow” is an acoustic trio from Northampton, MA made up of three members from the Celtic Rock/Alt-Irish six piece electric band Dicey Riley. They will be playing acoustic versions of songs from Dicey Riley’s repertoire, plus traditional music, originals, and acoustic covers. Much of Little Dicey’s songs come from a genre they call "Alt-Irish” which is as Celtic-influenced Alt-country and Alternative Rock. The band is: Timmy O'Brien playing acoustic guitar, Zoe Darrow singing and playing fiddle, and John McLaughlin singing and playing the cajón, the bodhrán, and the djembe. The Keepers are Chip Arnold and Marion Dunk, an acoustic duo providing a pleasing mix of standards, blues, country, Celtic and soulful originals. Chip and Marion are both veteran singer/songwriters who have played together around the Pioneer Valley and upstate New York going on fifteen years. Multi-instrumentalists, they add their own unique touch to the tunes of their favorite songwriters – blending rich vocal harmonies with moving, syncopated rhythms. This Saturday festival will be a day of Irish music, dance, and culture. This family friendly event will have something for everyone. A trad Irish seisiún will open the festival. The Cassin Academy of Irish Dance and Black Rose Academy of Irish Dance will present dance exhibitions. Visitors can learn Irish dance, visit vendors of Irish crafts and products, and participate in workshops featuring Irish arts and language. Music entertainment throughout the day will include the opening seisiún, and featured performances by local fiddle sensation Zoe Darrow, Boston’s Erin Og, and, from Galway, Padraig Stevens with Leo Moran of The Saw Doctors.
The events will take place rain or shine on the field on the ICC grounds at 429 Morgan Road in West Springfield. The ICC invites you to come and dance the afternoon away at our new Sunday Céilí! Held on the first Sunday of the month, the first Céilí will be on October 6 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. Entry fee is $5 per person, payable at the door. Snacks will be provided, including cheese, cracker, frips, veggies and dips. For heartier fare, the Irish House Restaurant and Trinity Pub will be open to order sandwiches, salads, and soups. Dance instruction will be available, and top musicians will provide the music! Jimmy McArdle, an original member of the Irish folk band The Bards, has performed with many well known acts such as the Wolfe Tones and the Clancy Brothers. He has also played alongside world renowned flutist James Galway at the famous Black Rose in Boston. Jimmy continues to perform in western MA, Cape Cod and throughout the Boston area. He often teams up with the area's finest musicians, including drummer John Joe Martin from Co. Kerry and Holyoke's accomplished accordion player Jerry Murphy. Together, these artists join to form the New England Céilí Band.

UPDATE: The Céilí has been canceled due to the forecasted snow storm. The next Céilí will be held January 5. The ICC invites you to come and dance the afternoon away at our new Sunday Céilí! Held on the first Sunday of the month, the Céilí will be on December 1 from 3:00 – 6:00 pm. All ages and experience levels welcome. Entry fee is $5 per person, payable at the door. Snacks will be provided, including cheese, cracker, frips, veggies and dips. For heartier fare, the Irish House Restaurant and Trinity Pub will be open to order sandwiches, salads, and soups. Dance instruction will be available, and top musicians will provide the music! Jimmy McArdle, an original member of the Irish folk band The Bards, has performed with many well known acts such as the Wolfe Tones and the Clancy Brothers. He has also played alongside world renowned flutist James Galway at the famous Black Rose in Boston. Jimmy continues to perform in western MA, Cape Cod and throughout the Boston area. He often teams up with the area's finest musicians, including drummer John Joe Martin from Co. Kerry and Holyoke's accomplished accordion player Jerry Murphy. Together, these artists join to form the New England Céilí Band.
