Please join us on Thursday, January 14 at 7 pm EST for Hitching for Hope: A Journey into the Heart and Soul of Ireland, with Irish author Ruairi McKiernan. This free event will be broadcast on Zoom and Facebook live. It is sure to be an uplifting, enlightening and inspiring hour filled with stories, conversation and craic with one of Ireland’s most impressive public speakers. Registration is required and attendees will have the opportunity to submit questions during this live one-hour event.

McKiernan is the author of Hitching for Hope – a Journey into the Heart and Soul of Ireland. He is also a charity founder, Fulbright fellow and former member of the Council of State. He is originally from Cootehill, County Cavan. His new book was published internationally in March 2020 by U.S. publishers Chelsea Green and despite challenging circumstances, it managed to land a number 1 bestseller spot in the Irish Times paperback non-fiction charts. The book is part memoir, part Irish travel adventure and it’s also very much a celebration of hope and community spirit during turbulent times.

On January 14, McKiernan will read from his book and lead a discussion on the key themes of kindness, courage, resilience, and community spirit. The hour will end with a question-and-answer session between himself and audience members. Dublin-born musician Enda Reilly will be joining the gathering to provide original and traditional Irish tunes.
